Ladies Auxiliary makes donation to the Fire Department

Riverdale Fire Company Receives Grants
In the last few months the Fire Department was awarded 3 grants. These grants are used to purchase items that cannot be funded through the annual budget, and helps offset taxes to our residents.
Pru Cares - $1,000. Prudential Financial awards grants to recognize the service Prudential employees give to non-profit organizations. See the Press Release
Walmart - $1,775. Walmart Good Works grants are awarded to assist non-profit organizations that serve communities where WalMart operates. Click Here to see more.
Fire Prevention - $300. The Firefighters Charitable Foundation gives grants to local fire department to offset costs of local Fire Prevention activities.
Chief Norton Reaches Major Milestone
Ex-Chief Jack Norton celebrated his 50th anniversary on 12/6/2010. He was honored at Borough Hall with several presentations.

Fire Department Responds to Record Number of Calls
As of 10/31/2010 the Fire Department has responded to 179 calls an increase of 5% from 2009. Based on the current pace the fire department will surpass the number of calls in 2009 (206)which was a record for the fire department.

Fire Dept. Responds to House Fire
On July 6th at 4:20 am the fire department responded to a house fire at 41 Hillside Dr.
Fire Departments from Pompton Lakes, Kinnelon, Butler, Pequannock, and Boonton Township responded to help extinguish the fire and provide a water supply.

Fire Department Receives another grant
The Fire Department was awarded a $1,000 grant from Prudential Financial's Prudential Cares grant program. Prudential awarded over $400,000 to local non-profit organizations in 2010.
Memorial Day 2010

Fire Department Receives Federal Grant
On April 9th, 2010 the Riverdale Fire Department was awarded $55,676 dollars to upgrade its 24 year old extrication equipment "Jaws of Life". This grant will allow the fire department to continue to provide quality rescue services without a burden to the tax payers of Riverdale.

Fire Department Awarded a Grant
The Fire Department received a $3,100 grant from the NJ Forest Fire Service. The money will be used to purchase equipment.
Fire Department Elects New Chiefs
Current Department Chief Mike Norton decided to not run for another term. His dedicated service as Assistant Chief for 10 years, and Department Chief for 2 years is greatly appreciated.
Dan Sturm was elected as Department Chief, and Jim Regeling Jr. was elected Assistant Chief. Best of luck to both as you lead the fire department for the next 2 years.
Fire Department Updates Jaws of Life
The council approved the replacement of the 23 year old Jaws of Life currently used by the Fire Department. The updated equipment will be able to cut the stronger materials that today's cars are made of.

Amanda Gavrun joins Merchant Marine Academy

Fire Department Receives 2 Grants
The Fire Department received 2 grants in 2009 totaling $6,000.
One grant was a PruCares grant from Prudential Financial for $5,000 to recognize Pat Cleary's volunteer service
The second grant was $1,000 from Walmart.
In addition, a 2008 grant from the Forest Fire Service was increased from $1,200 to $4,100.
